In 1935 Dave McCoy came to the Eastern Sierra Mountains in California. He fell in love with this wild and rugged country and never left. Recreational skiing was just becoming popular in Southern California, and Dave wanted to be part of it. He started with a home-made rope-tow powered by the back wheel of an old pick-up truck and skied with his friends on weekends. This is the story of how, from these humble beginnings, Dave built the world renowned ski resort called Mammoth Mountain.
